Amy Sims

Plant Prefab VP of Design

Amy helped launch Plant Prefab and Plant’s predecessor, the award-winning residential design studio LivingHomes. She now guides Plant’s design strategy, managing architect partnerships, design review services, and the development of new standard home designs.

Amy’s passion for sustainable design dates back to an undergraduate internship at Vermont’s Yestermorrow Design/Build School, where she was immersed in energy-efficient building techniques decades before they entered the mainstream. She worked as a framer and finish carpenter for several years before attending grad school, and her first job in architecture was building quarter-scale models. These hands-on experiences early in her career imparted a wealth of knowledge about construction means and methods that informed Amy’s pioneering work at LivingHomes and Plant Prefab.
